Motion-compensated prediction based algorithm for medical image sequence compression
A method for irreversible compression of medical image sequences is described. The method relies on discrete cosine transform and motion-compensated prediction to reduce intraand inter-frame redundancies in medical image sequences. Simulation examples are presented.
متن کاملRate-constrained multihypothesis prediction for motion-compensated video compression
This article investigates linearly combined motion-compensated signals for video compression. In particular, we discuss multiple motion-compensated signals that are jointly estimated for efficient prediction and video coding. First, we extend the wide-sense stationary theory of motion-compensated prediction for the case of jointly estimated prediction signals. Our theory suggests that the gain ...
متن کاملModel-Based Motion Compensated Compression for Synthetic Animations
Navin Chaddha Computer Systems Laboratory, Stanford University, CA-94305 Advances in rendering hardware and software over the last decade have led to a steady increase in the popularity of computer-generated animations. This is especially apparent in the entertainment industry as synthetic animations are being used in films, CD-ROMS and video games. The scientific community also makes heavy use...
متن کاملMedical Image Compression Based on Region of Interest
Medical images show a great interest since it is needed in various medical applications. In order to decrease the size of medical images which are needed to be transmitted in a faster way; Region of Interest (ROI) and hybrid lossless compression techniques are applied on medical images to be compressed without losing important data. In this paper, a proposed model will be presented and assessed...
متن کاملOptical flow estimation for motion-compensated compression
a r t i c l e i n f o The computation of optical flow within an image sequence is one of the most widely used techniques in computer vision. In this paper, we present a new approach to estimate the velocity field for motion-compensated compression. It is derived by a nonlinear system using the direct temporal integral of the brightness conservation constraint equation or the Displaced Frame Dif...
